FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION WITH POLYGRAPH USE OF COMPUTER
The forensic psychological examination with the use of the computer polygraph set out in paragraph 6.8 of section VI “of the Instruction about appointment and carrying out judicial examinations and expert researches”, approved by the Ministry of justice of Ukraine No. 1350/5 from 27.07.2015 year.
Studies of human memory in the context of this examination subject to the General methodology of forensic psychological examinations and has its own, peculiar only to this study scientifically sound methods and techniques. The basis of judicial and psychological examination with polygraph use is check the emotional tension that occurs in response to the desire to hide the true information. Registration of changes of indicators of several physiological parameters is carried out using the polygraph. The polygraph (from the Greek. poli – many, graphos –written) is a multi-channel psycho-physiological device for registration and recording of real-time indicators of emotional stress that occurs in response to information in the form of words, phrases, drawings, photos.
FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION WITH POLYGRAPH USE OF COMPUTER
Conducting this forensic examination requires the application of proven methodologies and instruments, precision and validity have been confirmed by scientific researches in Ukraine and abroad, meets international standards ASTM. Forensic psychological examination with polygraph use currently allows the exclusive use of polygraphs as well: Axciton Systems Inc. (USA), Lafayette Instrument Co. (USA), Stoelting Co. (USA), Limestone Technologies Inc. (Canada). The use of computerized polygraphs manufactured by the Russian Federation, as well as devices that use the software made in the Russian Federation, when conducting a forensic psychological examination with the use of the computer polygraph is prohibited in connection with the implementation of the law of Ukraine from August 14, 2014 №1644-VII “On sanctions” (the act forbids the use of the software of the Russian Federation, the authorities and, respectively, in the administration of justice as an independent branch of state activity). 
The overall goal of forensic psychological examination with the use of the computer polygraph is obtaining oral information.
The subject of judicial and psychological examination with the use of the computer polygraph is obtaining oral information regarding:
– the degree of probability of this opetovne face information;
– completeness opetovne face information;
sources opetovne received face information;
views the person interviewed about a particular event;
another oral information required to construct versions of the investigation of certain events.
The object of forensic psychological examination using polygraph is a psychophysiological peculiarities of mental processes (memories, learning, remembering) and their relationship with the emotional sphere of the person.
General conditions of conducting. Forensic psychological examination with polygraph use is subject to the absence of the Respondent’s face expressed signs of medical contraindications (severe heart failure, mental retardation, starting in imbecility – the average degree of dementia, decompensation of psychopathy, aggravation of schizophrenia).
Not allowed to survey individuals who are under the influence of alcohol, narcotic substances; being in a state of physical or mental exhaustion, withdrawal, experiencing physical pain.
Not allowed to survey women in state of pregnancy, since the third trimester (27-28 weeks of pregnancy).
The examination may be conducted only with the written consent of the person queried.
A person at any stage of the study has the right to refuse participation. In any case, such waiver shall not be construed as an acknowledgment of guilt of the person and should not lead to infringement of his rights.
Work with professionals!
Unfortunately, there are those who dare to do it, but have not received the relevant exercises and training. Such people create a false idea of the “inefficiency” of the polygraph and attract a significant portion of criticism. Especially wary of people who are without a doubt a full cycle of testing their own methods – implement in practice. Therefore, nothing can replace experience, maturity, level of training of the examiner, so choosing the right examiner is of paramount importance. Your examiner must ensure the following:
- Full qualification after completion of school, which corresponds to the level of training of the requirements of the American polygraph Association, the international standards of ASTM E2000.
- He is a member of the professional cell of the polygraph (as, for example, in Ukraine – the Board of polygraphologist of Ukraine).
- Uses modern, recommended by the international community, in particular the American polygraph Association, questioning techniques.
- Regularly undergo refresher courses.
- Uses the latest equipment recognized around the world (today this equipment is American and canadian producers).
